Shortlisted for Prize (14-12-2011)Dr Huw Thomas, of Ger-y-llan, has ceated a special sling for people with disabilities and mobility problems. Promove UK was established in 2007 with his business partner Dana Thomas, also of Penrhyn-coch. Today Promove UK products are used by the fire, ambulance and police services and many others. The products are also used in places as far as Haiti and India. Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou:'I would like to congratulate Huw for reaching the shortlist for this year's award and I am truly impressed by his entrepreneurial passion and dedication'.
Daniel Davies wins the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize 2011 (10-10-2011)Daniel Davies, Maesmeurig wins the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize at the Wrexham National Eisteddfod 2011. The title of the novel is 'Tair Rheol Anhrefn'. Published by the Lolfa.
An evening to celebrate the event was held at Horeb Vestry, Penrhyn-coch, on 28 September.

(18-03-2011)Trefeurig Community Council's meeting on 15 March confirmed the appointment of Mrs Meinir Jenkins, Llanfarian as its new clerk. Mrs Jenkins brings experience to the work as she is already clerk of Llanfarian and Vaenor Community Councils. Mrs Jenkins will begin her work on 1 April 2011, following the retirement of Mrs Pat Walker, who has served the Council as a Clerk since 1979.
